Dr Jenny Mitchell is an Australian-trained health professional. Jenny is trained as a Gynaecologist, Obstetrician and has had her practice at Darwin Private Hospital for more than 20 years. She enjoys working with the women of Darwin during their pregnancies and in later life.

Dr. Alia Vemuri
Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Dr. Alia Vemuri is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Darwin Private Hospital. She grew up in Darwin and undertook her primary and secondary schooling here before embarking on her medical studies in Adelaide. Dr Alia Vemuri completed her specialist obstetrics and gynaecology qualifications after having worked in a number of hospitals in Perth, Canberra, Launceston, Adelaide and Darwin. Dr Alia Vemuri takes great pleasure in returning home to Darwin and offering Territory women obstetric and gynaecological care.

Paediatrician
When you choose private, you have access to your own paediatrician. Speak to your obstetrician and ask for a referral.
Paediatricians don’t routinely attend births unless requested, however they do attend Caesarean section births. They will also attend twin births, premature and breech births. If your baby needs extra care and support they may be admitted to the Special Care Nursery within the maternity services of Darwin Private Hospital.
Regardless of the obstetrician you choose, we offer an on-call paediatrician to provide emergency cover, as needed 24-hours. You’ll receive a separate invoice for your paediatrician, which usually includes an out-of-pocket gap cost.
Dr JR Gadil
Dr JR was working as a General Paediatrician in the Philippines and the Sultanate of Oman before coming to Australia. He completed four years of training in Neonatology in Westmead Hospital, NSW for two years, and two years at Monash Medical Centre in Victoria before moving to Darwin where he settled after finishing his training in General Paediatrics at the Royal Darwin Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital for Children in Perth. He is interested in neonatology and community paediatrics dealing with general paediatric conditions and children with behavioural and learning difficulties.

Experienced midwives and nurses will welcome you when you come to Darwin Private Hospital. Our midwives and nurses are dedicated to ensuring your childbirth experience is the best if can possibly be and your stay is enjoyable.
Lactation consultant
We have a dedicated antenatal midwife and a lactation consultant (pictured) to assist you during your pregnancy and breastfeeding experience.
Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist
As a private maternity mum, you’ll have access to our Women’s Health & Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist. They’re passionate about assessing and treating antenatal, postnatal and menopausal women for various conditions. This includes urinary incontinence, urinary urgency, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic floor weakness, pelvic girdle pain, wrist/thumb conditions and bowel management.
